Police captured the inmate who escaped
Sam Houston State University Police have captured an escaped inmate, Matthew Garza, who separated himself from an inmate line while returning from a court appearance in Frio County. Garza was scheduled to stay overnight at the Huntsville Unit before escaping. The Department of Criminal Justice in Texas reported that Garza was returning from a court appearance in Frio County and was apprehended by SHSU police at around 3:45 p.m. Garza was serving a 23-year sentence for burglary with intent to commit an assault and a 12-year sentence for an aggravated assault and with a deadly weapon in Harris County.
